Privacy Policy

The short version
- We collect your email and a few details to run the waitlist.
- We never sell your personal information, and brands never get your name or email.
- Brands only ever see anonymous, combined results, like "58% of students picked X."
- You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Who we are
Free Period is operated by Free Period, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Free Period," "we," "us"). Questions? Email hello@freeperiodapp.com.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect:
- Your email address.
- Your school's email domain (for example, msu.edu), which we use to count your campus in the campus race.
- Your confirmation that you are 18 or older and currently enrolled in college.
- Referral information: your personal invite code, and the code of the friend who invited you, if any.
- Your quick-take answer, if you choose to give one.
Our hosting and database providers also receive standard technical information your browser sends, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and secure the site. We save a small item in your browser's local storage so the site can remember your place in line. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.
How we use it
- To run the waitlist, calculate your position, and credit your referrals.
- To count sign-ups by campus.
- To email you about Free Period, your spot, and launch. You can unsubscribe from any email.
- To verify eligibility before giving anyone access.
- To create anonymous, aggregated insights, such as the share of students who gave a certain answer. We may publish these or share them with brands. They never include your name, email, or anything that identifies you.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't give your name or email to brands.
- We don't use your information for targeted advertising.
Who helps us
We use trusted service providers to operate the site, including our database provider (Supabase), our website host (Netlify), and our email provider. They process information only on our behalf and only to provide their services. We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy would continue to protect it.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist information until you ask us to delete it or until it's no longer needed to run the waitlist and launch Free Period. Anonymous, aggregated insights may be kept longer because they don't identify anyone.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing hello@freeperiodapp.com from the address you signed up with. We'll respond within the time the law requires. Depending on where you live, including California, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, and we won't treat you differently for using them.
Age requirement
Free Period is only for people 18 and older who are currently enrolled in college. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn someone under 18 has signed up, we'll delete their information.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. The waitlist database is not publicly readable; the website can only ask it for your own position and for anonymous totals. No system is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your data seriously.
Where your data is stored
Free Period is based in the United States, and your information is stored with service providers in the United States.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email or on the site.
